National Capital Rally The National Capital Rally was organised by the Brindabella Motor Sports Club and ran over the weekend of 26-28 May, 2017. The event was Round 2 of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC), Round 3 of the CAMS Australian Rally Championship (ARC) and Round 2 of the CAMS New South Wales Rally Championship (NSWRC). Under certain conditions, competitors were eligible to score points in more than one championship.
Friday, May 26. Ceremonial Start. Saturday, May 27. First day of competition. Due to some logistical problems I wasn't able to get out into the forests for the first day's competition, but I was able to get to the impressive service park near Canberra Airport. Looking at some of the arrangements I remembered that when I was competing my entire service crew plus all the spares and equipment they needed could fit into a single Holden station wagon. There is, of course, the part of rallying known as "budget". Results after the first day's competition can be found here. |
