NSSCC Whiteline Tarmac Rallysprint 2021/2022 The first round of the 2021/2022 Whiteline Tarmac Rallysprint series was held on December 16. (The planned date of November 18 became uncertain because of delayed construction work on the site, so a new date of January 6, 2022 was substituted.)
The picture shows the planned new course. Unfortunately, delays caused by weather and COVID meant that the rallysprint organisers were told a few days before the event that the part of the course that used the dragstrip could not be used. At 2pm on the day of the event the organisers were informed that they couldn't use the new speedway parking area because the lines had been freshly painted. These decisions severely reduced the length of the course, a disappointment to both organisers and competitors. It was finally decided to run the event anyway on a severely shortened course. The green lines show where the course avoided the car park and where the finish point was. Brett Middleton and his team from North Shore Sporting Car Club must be congratulated for their patience and for their quick decision making that allowed the truncated event to go ahead. While some of the competitors would have been disappointed (because everyone had been eagerly anticipating the new course) I don't think anyone would have gone away unhappy on the day. Brett offered to refund the entry fee to anyone who wanted to pull out, but I didn't notice any cars on trailers leaving the venue before the action started.
